About
I am a PhD student at the University of Toronto, where I am advised by Professor Eyal de Lara and Professor Niv Dayan. My work focuses on key-value stores, storage engines and distributed systems, including key-value separation in LSM-trees (Wayfinder) and linearizable local reads in distributed systems (Asymmetric Linearizable Local Reads).
Before starting my PhD, I was a Cloud Data Researcher at IBM Research, where I worked on big data analytics as part of the Cloud and Data Technologies group. There I co-created the open source project Xskipper, an extensible data skipping framework for Apache Spark, and worked on JSON CRDTs for document stores (DSON). Between 2024 and 2026, I also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at IBM, leading efforts around the Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake open table formats.
Before joining IBM, I received my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University and an MBA degree from Tel Aviv University.
My research interests are in key-value stores, distributed systems, databases, and infrastructure for large-scale data processing.
